Shoreline Vegetation Guide
This guide walks you through the process of establishing a thriving native garden on your property. It emphasizes careful planning, starting with choosing the right location and native planting option that aligns with your personal goals and site characteristics.
The guide includes six native planting options, each designed for a contiguous area of at least 350 ft², with detailed plant lists specifying the number and type of plants needed for Healthy Lakes grant funding. Plantings incorporate woody components (trees and shrubs), grasses and grass-like species, and wildflowers or ferns, creating a diverse habitat while improving water quality, natural beauty, and privacy.
