The weather pattern is becoming more favorable for several rounds of rainfall, some of which may be heavy, as seen yesterday. Despite dry weather and drought conditions across portions of northern Illinois, river flooding and flash flooding may still be possible. Confidence in the exact location of heaviest rainfall remains low at this time, however, and that means that there is considerable uncertainty in whether or not we will see flooding. Rainfall totals by next week may also vary significantly across short distances, with some locations receiving several inches and other locations receiving much less.
We’re watching the situation closely, and will update the forecast as new information becomes available or our confidence changes.
