HOMEOWNER BUOY APPLICATION
The following conditions and rules apply to the issuance of a Property Owner Buoy Placement Permit by the Fox Waterway Agency:
1. No person shall place buoy(s) in the Fox River / Chain of Lakes waterway without having first obtained a Buoy Placement Permit from Fox Waterway Agency. Only Fox Waterway Agency – issued buoys shall be placed in the Waterway.

AQUATIC HERBICIDE PERMIT
Before you treat… You will need to aquire a Letter of Permission (LOP) from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) to apply an Aquatic Herbicide, Mechanically cut or utilize a Non-Chemical Treatment to control aquatic plants within the waters of the Fox Chain O’ Lakes (FCOL) in Lake and McHenry Counties. Please Note: All chemical treatments MUST be compled by a licensed applicator.

Since 1967, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) has provided the public the right to request access to records from any federal agency. It is often described as the law that keeps citizens in the know about their government. Federal agencies are required to disclose any information requested under the FOIA unless it falls under one of nine exemptions which protect interests such as personal privacy, national security, and law enforcement. PIER AND SEAWALL REQUIREMENTS
The Fox Waterway Agency does not regulate pier or seawalls. The Army Corps of Engineers and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources are the two agencies who permit. Visit the links for information on how to obtain a permit.
REQUEST FOR WATERWAY RESTRICTION PERMIT
In an effort to promote recreational use of the waterway, the Board will issue Waterway Restriction Permits (WRP) for events in the waterway, such as boat races, business promotion of boats and related accessories, regattas, fishing derbies and other recreational activities (Permitted Events)
