Presented as a public service by America’s Boating Club of Waukegan, a unit of the United States Power Squadrons®.
America’s Boating Course is designed to teach essential boating fundamentals for both new and experienced boaters operating on inland waterways and open water, including the Great Lakes.
The first two and a half sessions cover:
- Boat terminology
- Required equipment and regulations
- Boat handling
- Navigation rules and aids to navigation
- Emergency conditions
- Marine communications
- Water sports safety
- Trailering
- Personal watercraft (PWC) operation
- Knot tying
The final portion of the course includes a review and examination.
Participants who successfully complete the course will meet the requirements of the State of Illinois Boating Safety Education legislation.
