FLOOD PREP – QUICK CHECKLIST
✔ Tie off boats with extra lines (leave slack for rising water) and check lines as water rises and lowers
✔ If your boat is on a lift, make sure it is properly secured to the lift
✔ Add bumpers/fenders to protect your boat
✔ Check bilge pumps & battery
✔ Raise and secure boat lifts
✔ Anchor or secure piers/docks (remove sections if possible)
✔ Remove or tie down covers, canopies & loose gear
✔ Pull kayaks/canoes out or tie them down
✔ Secure jet skis/PWCs and floating docks
✔ Sandbag shoreline, piers, doors & low areas
✔ Bring in or secure patio furniture, umbrellas & décor
✔ Secure grills, fire pits, trash cans, hoses & yard items
✔ Move firewood piles near shoreline to higher ground
✔ Secure any other items that may float away
✔ Move valuables, fuel tanks & portable items to higher ground
✔ Turn off shoreline power if water rises
✔ Check sump pumps
Anything not secured WILL become debris and can cause damage or injury.
