Chain O’Lakes Watershed-Based Plan
The Chain O’ Lakes Watershed Based Plan 2024 is a comprehensive strategy for protecting and improving water quality throughout the Fox Waterway’s Chain O’Lakes system. This plan outlines the current environmental status of the watershed, identifies key sources of pollution and ecological stress, and establishes prioritized goals and actions to address water quality issues over the coming years.
Developed through collaboration among local agencies, stakeholders, and residents, the plan includes watershed assessments, pollutant source analyses, and recommended best management practices (BMPs) to reduce nutrient loading, control erosion, manage stormwater, and enhance aquatic habitat. It also provides a framework for monitoring progress, securing funding, and engaging community partners in long‑term stewardship of the Chain O’Lakes.
This watershed plan serves as both a technical resource and a roadmap for local governments, conservation organizations, lake associations, and property owners committed to sustaining the health and recreational value of the Chain O’Lakes ecosystem.
